My Plantronics DSP 500 headset has developed a short somewhere inside the speaker where the external wire enters. It looks like I'll have to find a new headset to replace it.
I use a headset for gaming and watching YouTube videos. I live in an apartment building and do not use external speakers as a courtesy to my neighbors. I am almost always watching TV across the room while I'm gaming at my comp. While most want their headphones to keep audio out, I am actually looking for a set that will still let me hear external audio. The Plantronics set I had that broke worked very well for this. I could be gaming and still easily follow a baseball game on TV. I typically wear a headset for long periods of time while I'm gaming and need somthing that's comfy. I wear glasses and have found that some headsets can pinch my ears. The DSP 500's were extremely light and loose fitting such that I would hardly be able to tell that I was wearing them. If Plantronics still made them (they don't) I would just buy another set.
I am looking to spend up to ~$100 on a replacment headset. I wish I could buy a half dozen sets and then only keep the one that I liked most. I very rarely use the mic though I would use it alot if I started playing another mmo.
