i am changing out an abit motherboard with a ecs motherboard but i want to keep all my hardware,is there some things i have to delete before i swap over like the drivers for the chipset and where do i remove them from? thanks mike

Hey there,

Well generally with something like it is recommended that you do a full reinstall.
Hence FORMAT C: and reinstall. I though tried it with similar boards such as a MSI K7T Turbo -> MSI K7T Turbo2.
All it did was find the new components and update them. Unfortunately, these are 2 TOTALLY diff boards.
The reason for the reinstall is so your new components don't have probs any stuff you have OR HAD on there.
If you do not you run the chance of you NEW board being taken as the OLD ABIT.
Just my $0.02

If you are using winXP I'd say just swap boards and give it a chance because I've done a couple of board swaps using XP and it didn't even burp over it. Worse case senario you just have to do the re-install anyways, oh of course back everything up regardless 😉
