I have an ASrock Steel Legend X570(wifi) that has a failing chipset fan. I need to RMA this motherboard which requires me to send it in and I want to buy a Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570 (wifi) to install while the Asrock is away. (I will plan on using the Asrock in another build later).

Can this be done without reinstalling windows and are there any problems with the drivers?

[note: asrock has been very responsive on this issue, they tried to send me a replacement fan but it never arrived (lost in the mail?), they said they would send another but they just don't have any chipset fans in stock to send me. They said I could RMA the board instead. But I have to send in my current board before they will send a replacement)

The audio / network drivers might be different, but nothing you should really need to manually do. Windows 10 should update them if it is needed. The boards have the same chipset, so the differences will be minimal.

Exactly why I wouldn't buy a motherboard with a chipset fan. Since they aren't a standard size that can be bought anywhere if needed, users are at the mercy of the manufacturer supplying them (and when they simply don't have any, this is the result).

I agree with you, but there isn't a reasonably priced x570 board without a chipset fan. Any recommendations for a board to replace this one? I was thinking Aorus Elite X570 or MSI Tomahawk 570. The aorus has a fan that only spins when hot and the Tomahawks fan is in a good location. I guess there is the B550 option as well - haven't researched them yet.
