Replacing Motherboard question

If I have an Intel 845g chipset motherboard that came off my Insignia, and want to replace it with a new motherboard, do I have to worry about it working with my factory installed windows xp that came with the Insignia?

once you change motherboards you have to reinstall windows. There is a way to not reinstall windows but it requires you to uninstall specific drivers pertaining to the mobo and then reinstalling the new ones. not worth it IMHO.

In fact, you'd have to reactivate your windows installation. What the above poster alludes to as far as uninstalling specific drivers to allow you to save your existing Windows installation, you have to set your ide driver to be the standard one then put in the new mobo.
