Replacing Mobo - have Raid 5 ICHR9, going to ICHR10 ??

Not sure this is the right place for this but I thought I would start here.

Will I be able to just set up the Raid system the same and not lose what is on the drives?

I currently have a Gigabyte P35-DS3R board that seems to be dead. I am going to get a EP45-U3DP board as a replacement.

Thanks..

Newegg still has several boards with the ICH9R -- are any of these an option?

To answer your question, I remember seeing an article where they moved a RAID array from an ICH8R to a ICH9R and it worked fine. I didn't find anything like that for an ICH9R to ICH10R transition. My gut feeling is that it would work, but unless you find an article or talk to Gigabyte or Intel, I would probably try to get an ICH9R board instead.

Well I went and picked up the EP45-U3DP board and new memory, 8 GB (4 x 2GB). When I got home, I thought, let's try the memory on my old board. I put it in the system posted on my monitor (not my usual monitor). So I connected everything back up and tried it again. Still worked. Then I connected my usual monitor and black screen. So I un-connected the DVI cable and power cord. Connected them back and had a light green screen with lines, terrible looking. So I moved the DVI cable connector to the monitor and it popped back to the correct look. I am thinking the monitor has a problem. So it seemed to appear that my memory was bad as well as my monitor trying to go out.

No guarantee's, I went from a R2E to a P6x58D Premium, both ICH10R, and it would not transfer. Fortunatly, for me, I had an image of the drives, I was back in business in a few hours using a recovery disk. Suggest you do the same.

has anyone been able to use ghost or some other imaging software to restore a raid 0 image? i tried a few times and it was always ng. but that was a few years ago.
