Replacing Media Server Motherboard, RAID Volume

My media server did not post to BIOS last night, I tried trouble shooting and concluded that the Power Supply is fine. No reason to suspect CPU or RAM. If is disconnect the power source and reconnect then it lets me get into BIOS but nothing further. After that all I get is a black screen after pressing the power button, with LEDs on the board flashing and the fans running.

Don't want to spend too much time troubleshooting and decided to simply buy another board. My concern is my RAID 0 volume that is connected to the onboard SATA controller. Would a new board with probably different controller recognize the volume?

What is the best way to replace the mother and keep the RAID volumn? thanks.

You generally need to buy another motherboard with the same RAID chipset brand; nVIDIA->nVIDIA, Intel->Intel, etc.. Then enable RAID for the ports in the BIOS, and hope that the new RAID implementation auto-detects the existing RAID array and it hasn't been corrupted. Generally you shouldn't re-define the RAID array -- re-defining the array could wipe the data.

If your OS is also on the RAID array, then it's trickier, because the OS has to recognize the array and be fixed for the new motherboard / chipset in order to run. You might be better off getting a new drive and doing a fresh install on it, and then connecting the other drives and the RAID array to recover data off it.

The RAID0 Volume is connected to a Sil3132 and I ordered an ASUS A8N32-SLI which uses the same. Hopefully all will go well.
