Replacing Laptop Sreen

I need to replace the screen on my ThinkPad T20 (the GF dropped it). I'm not sure how, does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks.

While I am not familiar with the T20, you may be able to replace it if you have the skills and an exact replacement screen off of eBay or something. It'll come down to a number of screws and a couple of connectors.

There severeal how to manuals if you Google them. I know dell, HP, Compaq, and several other companies have instruction sets for taking thier LCD panels out and replacing them.

You have to tear the laptop down pretty much and put it all back together with the new screen

Here and then click on the laptop screen removal.. It'll give you step by step procedure on how to do it. You can even buy a new Xbrite type screen if you want but of course, it cost a little bit more.

Depending on the price of the parts to repair the screen, it might be cheaper to just buy a used T2x. The thinkpad t2x series is selling for under $300 on ebay.

If you want the IBM service manuals, you can download them from ibm.com. Just search for thinkpad t20 on their website. Their manuals are VERY DETAILED and will tell you exactly which screws/parts to remove and in which order.
