Replacing KT7a-raid and spanned volumes

Hopefully there is an easy answer to this. My KT7a-raid bit the dust and I need a replacement. I had planned on getting another one and just picking up where I left off, but they're $62 new and ~$50 after shipping on ebay. I also have some PC2100 that I could put into a DDR motherboard. Newegg has a refurbed Soltek SL-75DRV4 for $31 shipped, which looks like a good deal. My question is this: will I be able to boot into windows and retrieve data from my spanned volume, or will I have to reload the OS and lose this data? The harddrives are fine AFAIK.

If the RAID chipset is the same, then this should be no problem (going to a different motherboard). Should be no problem, but you are not assured it will work. If you are going from, say, a HighPoint controller to a Promise controller, I'd pretty much say no dice.

I should have been more specific. I'm not using the RAID controller. I have 3 harddrives in this system:

[*]1 40 gig
[*]1 60 gig
[*]1 4.5 gig scsi

I have a 5 gig boot partition on my 40 gig drive. I then combined the remaining space on that drive with my 60 gig as a spanned volume. The scsi drive is just for backup.

I'm planning on picking up a Biostar KM266. The Soltek was already OOS yesterday. :(

Can I retrieve info from the volume set in safe mode?
