replacing HD on Samsung ATIV9 2014

My wife bought the above notebook a couple months ago and loves it, but has quickly outgrown the 128GB SSD. I want to upgrade her to a new crucial 512GB ssd, and am a little intimidated by cracking open her pretty new computer. I'm used to machines that have obvious HD bays, not ones I have to pry apart to get at the drive carrier.

I've built desktops for many years and replaced HDs on other notebooks, so I'm generally comfortable with the work, but I can't find documentation on cracking the cases on these units. I'd rather not pay Microcenter $150 to plug in the drive, but will punt to be safe if I can't see something before I try.

Thanks,

Marc

So after doing research on other tech forums, i have confirmed that this device includes an M.2 SSD in the 80mm length. I can get a 512 GB drive for $250 at Buy.com or amazon. Though samsung technical support indicates that they only support a 256GB SSD (because that is all they sell) several users have installed 512 and 1 GB drives.

The bottom of the PC opens after removing 10 very accessible screws, which should get a touch of loctite blue since they tend to fall out. beyond that, it is probably necessary to invest in an M.2 to USB adapter to plug the new drive into the USB port of the notebook to clone the data to the new drive.

Also, when you pull the cover off of the notebook, the drive is under a ribbon cable. links at notebook forums can provide the locations, but there aren't that many ribbons to look under.

Hope this helps another user.
