Hey fellas, just picked up a Radeon 8500 to replace my aging GeForce 2MX.
I'm just curious whether anyone knows of a how-to page or has had some experience completely removing all traces of nVidia from my system. I'm running Win2K, so Detonator Destroyer is out of the question as it only works on Win9x/ME, is there any handy utilities / steps I should follow to remove all traces of Det's from my system?

Here's what I know:

1) Uninstall drivers from add/remove programs.
2) Delete any keys under HKLM/Software/nVidia Corporation.
3) Delete the inf file from the Det's installer in the WINNT/inf folder.
4) Manually delete any NV* type dll's from WINNT/System32.

Please let me know if there's something obvious that I'm missing, as I REALLY don't feel much like wiping my box just to swap out the video card.

Thanks in advance!

Ensure you try all resources for information before you upgrade. I just purchase an AIW 7500 and I'm playing he!! getting my system to work right now. Reformatted numerous times, had to take my XP cd back to retailer for a replacement, on the phone with MS support, the list goes on. Don't dive into it unless you have received information telling you there won't be any problems. I wouldn't wish the problems that I'm having on anyone.

Well, considering I wouldn't touch Windows XP with a 50 foot serrated anal probe, I think my problems would likely be far fewer.
This whole infinite loop issue that many people are encountering appears to be centered more often then not around WinXP, however M$, being the "deny everything" type of corporation that they are, are pointing the finger at anyone they can. It happens on Via boards, it happens on Intel boards, Sis boards, nVidia cards, ATI cards, etc. etc...but the common denominator in every thread I've read on the newsgroups so far appears to be Windows XP. Coincidence? I hardly think so.

Anyway, I thank you for the advice, hopefully I don't have to cut my left arm off to get things working.
