to get a little quiter, i was thinking of swapping the stock fan with the nexus orange 120mm fan.

should i tie it into the psu's fan leads (temp sensing) or leave it at 100% off a molex or the mobo.

using the mb will allow speed monitoring but i dont think the nexus needs it, just let it run at full speed

I would use the Akasa Amber fan /w resistor because its ball bearings should be able to handle the heat better... the difference in noise level at given flow is negligible, IMHO.

well my forton fan is working fine, the nexus is just quieter. also if you look on silentpcreview they recomend sleeve bearing over ball.

Sleeve bearings also wear out quicker under heat, and are not fast enough for the heat that PSU's put out.

SPCR recomend sleve over ball bearing for most roles, but ball bearings are better for when the temperature is consistently higher. Check the article about PSU mods there too. Old but valid.

Just unplug all case fans, remove the PSU fan because the ONLY reason these fans are used at all, is to piss the ppl at SPCR off. According to them you really don't need fans.
Slap a Ninja on the CPU and have some peace & quiet. We need quiet as we build the gun to shoot ourselves because in death we will have true peace & quiet.

I would post in this thread for real but a couple experts that don't know the business end of a screwdriver would be taking pot-shots at what I might offer. Then the asshats would be quoting me later with no attribution.
I'm amazed that ppl that asked really stupid questions two weeks ago, can claim some sort of expertize today *shakes head*.

Some will be glad others might be sad but my posts in this forum will be sparce in the future.
