Replacing fan in Acer Travelmate 8200

The fan in my travelmate 8200 is in the process of dying a noisy death. If there is an easier place to get a replacement than going to Acer, i'd like to do that, as there customer service is rather poor...any suggestions?

Thanks,
Trent

Well...

I maintain 2-3 links in my Firefox Bookmarks just-in-case I need replacement parts for portables.

In my experience, you can get just about anything you'll need, but...

Portable parts are usually model-specific and very pricey! 😉

LoL!

I'm telling you this, in advance, to prepare you for the 'sticker shock'...

Having said that, here's a link for you:

Heh!

I'm getting out of here before you start throwing stuff! 😀

Yeah, exactly!

The vendor probably wants to stay in business, and their products have a 100% profit margin, but...

What the hell are you gonna do, you know? They kinda have you by the gnads... 😉

Really, that's not a bad price for what you're getting. Sometimes it's outrageous like $225 for replace the DVD burner, or whatever.

I digress...

I'm on a 10.1 Asus netty right now. I h-a-t-e this keyboard!

The biggest problem is I can't see the light-grey lettering on the flat-black keys. I've been thinking about swapping out the black keyboard for a white keyboard with black lettering.

Now, get this...

The Asus Store sells replacement keyboards for $15... no kidding! Such a deal...

LoL!

Anyway, it doesn't sound like they're sticking it to you too bad, considering it comes with a heat-pipe cooler, blah, blah, blah.

Here's what i found out. It doesn't look like the 8100 series and the 8200 series use the same cooling setup, and while i was able to find a few places that sell the 8200 setup, it was out of stock everywhere...and i have a suspicion it may never be in stock again. I did find JUST the fan on ebay, so currently that looks like my only option.

ASUS store...wow! that's pretty neat. probably has to do with a strong bare-bones laptop program...i think they do anyway 😛;

anyway, thanks for the help Vin!

Thank God for eBay!

I needed a petcock for my 1983 Honda ATC 250R. It was a real oddball - Honda only used the design for 2 years, and they were long gone from dealer racks.

Heh! eBay was the only place (in the world) that I could find one... 😉

Good luck!
