My new Dell Inspiron 8600 doesn't have a trackpoint head on its keyboard while I notice that my classmate's older 8600 and 8500 do have one (as well as the trackpad). Is it possible to gain trackpoint functionality if I find a keyboard that has a trackpoint?

You need to find a old style keyboard as well as an old style palmrest. Changing both will give you the trackpoint.

Thanks for the info.

The thing I was interested in most was if the motherboard would accept the trackpoint cable and it appears it does.

Now I have to find a new "used" keyboard? Bleh :p

I'll think about it. I don't know if I want to replace a new keyboard with a used one :)

latitude d800 keyboard should work.

i'm thinking about replacing the keyboard on my 600m with a d600 keyboard for the point stick and the feel of the keys.
