Article Replacing CPU's

Can I replace an AMD Athlon II X4 640 Processor with a used AMD Phenom II CPU? Sorry, no other info on the used CPU. I did own the PC that this came out of.

It's mostly down to BIOS updates and compatibility, and the TDP (power) avail to the CPU socket. there were 65w, 95W, 125w, and 140W variants.

Also, there were a couple of obscure Phenom II varients that were AM2-only, and won't work in a
ddr3 am3 board.

Mostly just down to bios update(s), though.
