Replacing cmos in HP Compaq 6715b

Hope I can obtain help in this matter please..

I know I need to replace the cmos battery on this laptop.

This particular is not used for mych really and has not been used for long either.
There is not of any imprtance on thios laptop.

I know where it's located and how to replace.

What I am insure of is the folowing;

1. Do I have/need to backup the CMOS Values?
2. Is there anything I need to be aware of?

I am surprised I having to replace a CMOS battery and have never before had to.

This HP Cpmpaq 7615b 32bit operating system, AMD Turion(tm) 64 x2 Tech TL-58 1.90 GHz

Any assistance will be greatly welcomed.

The battery in question is called the RTC battery. Page 82 of the above manual shows how to remove and replace it.

You may have to re apply any custom settings like boot order but it should not be an issue. No need to back it up. Replacement of the battery is honestly a very simple procedure you will be fine.
