I currently have a Sony CRX300E installed in my Shuttle XPC ST61G4--an mATX case. I bought an NEC 3520A and I was wondering how to install it. TIA

take apart the shuttle case. there are probably screws, and unplug the cd drive, and put the dvd drive in exactly the same way as the cd drive was in. i dont know how those shuttle things work. do they have rails?

It is really simple. All you have to do is take the side of your case off, unscrew the screws holding the old cd drive in. Unplug the ATA wire (The big, grey, flat wire) and the power cord and put the new drive in, plug the cords into the same spots as the old drive, and screw it in. It is one of the easiest computer building tasks. It is very straight forward

Um, about the power cord, I can't unplug it. Is there a particular way to unplug it or am I just weak sauce?

Im afraid its the latter I tend to just use 2 fingers one on top the other on the bottom and pull but sometimes they get a little stuck. If necessary you could try some pliers

Prontos, there is one thing everyone seems to be overlooking. You might need to change your jumper settings on the new drive. I'm not sure how your current drive is set (master or slave) but you will want to make sure your new drive is set the same.

Incase you don't know how to do this, at the back of the old drive there should be a group of pins (usually about 8 to 10), look at how the jumpers (usually small black plastic parts that connect two pins) are set (if there are any) and compare to the label on the drive (it should show you where the jumpers should be for each setting) then move the jumpers on the new drive so to match the setting on the old drive (use the label on the new drive to set the jumpers because their placement can vary from brand to brand).
