Replacing C: (IDE) with SATA

I picked up a WD 160GB sata drive today, with the intention of making it my new C drive.

I would like to know if there is a way to transfer all of the data from my current C drive over to the new drive (via an application like Powerquest Drive Image), then rename it to C.

I have checked the Drive Management in Windows XP and it won't let me change the drive letter of my system volume, so is there really a way of doing this OTHER than re-installing Windows?

I thank you in advance for your help,
- John

based on my experience... NOPE!

besides, you can never format too often. what you can do is install winxp on your sata as C.. boot to that winxp install... copy needed files over from D (which used to be your C) and then format D
