Replacing ATX Connector... HELP!!

Well, I find myself doing precisely what I didn't want to do... I'm replacing the ATX connector on my used Antec True430 so that I can test it. Trouble is, my toolset doesn't work 😡 😡 😡

The only way I can figure out to get the ****ing pins out of the connector is to break off the pin shrouds. That said, Antec used some good plastic on that connector 😱 and I can't seem to cut it with an X-Acto.

Anyone got a good idea for how to break an ATX connector without damaging the pins? (Note: no power tools, plz... that would be bad for my health.)

I love how seventeen people have looked at this thread and none of them bothered to help me. Nothin'. Not even so much as a how-do-ye-do.

I know it's only been about two hours since I posted this, but still...

What do you mean your toolset doesn't work? Are you using the 2 prong atx removal tool or something else?

I think there are metal tabs at the base of the pin connectors similar to molex connectors. I used to take a large needle and push the metal tabs flush to remove the pins. It's time consuming and will take awhile to pull 20-24 pins on an ATX though, but should work. An eyeglasses screw driver might work as well.

I had a truepower 430w back in 2004 and i blew it up, white flash loud bang and gone! You dont want help from me on this issue

@dualsmp: try using an X-Acto hobby knife (#11 blade) and a Zona saw. The saw cuts apart the connector, and the knife pushes in the tabs. Painful as cr*p but it works 😵

@Maximilian: I'm sorry for your loss 😉 . However, I think we're talking about *slightly* different models... this is mine. I think it works... or will, once I get done with it
