I have a Gateway EV700-7000965 that I need to replace the vga cable on. I have no problem soldering in the cable, but I have never replaced one before. Two problems however:

1) Where do you buy the cable? The gateway reps are....well....gateway reps. They don't even know where to buy one unless it is a male to male cable.

2) Would buying an extension be better and splicing it? Or is there a guide somewhere on how to replace this cable?

You might find some useful info Here. It takes quite a bit of reading and searching though.

how much is left of the original cable?
you can get connectors you can add on to the cable.. then use an extender from that point
