Replacing a Socket A Motherboard

Well, the motherboard on my wife's computer has some issues and needs replacing. I am hoping to find a new one for around $30 or without resorting to somewhere like ebay. I don't need onboard anything because I have all the cards, but if it has it, that's ok. Any suggestions for a good board for under $30?

I saw an Asus A7N8X rev.2 on the FS/FT Forum today (not mine), run a search there, it's one of the best, if not the best sktA Mobo IMHO

Your best deal would probably in the FS/FT forums, as something new that is good is probably going to cost more then $30, such as this Epox.

Well, I don't need the best board out there, I just don't want something that is horrible. Are the PC Chips boards good enough? This really only has to make in until December when I'll be upgrading her computer anyway.

well, i have an A7N8X-X (the smaller brother of the A7N8X line) and it rocks. i got it for really cheap. it doesn't have dual channel or sata, but for what i do and the price i got it for, it rocks. the best of that line is probablly the A7N8X-E Deluxe. It has SATA,Firewire, dual NIC's and soundstorm audio. but you won't be able to get it for less then $30 imo.

Personally, i would avoid PC Chips Mobos, many, many problems there. But if it's just till December you might be ok.

iv always used biostar for budget systems and good replacments all the time for customers , this is a good board for the $ Text

Yeah, I'd say avoid PC Cheaps and ECS. Check the clearance/refurb section on Newegg - usually something decent in there, but may be lacking some accys - as you said, it's a short-term make-do.
