Replacing a laptop screen.

Hello. My friend's got a Sony VGN-NS130e laptop. The screen cracked. I found http://www.amazon.com/Glossy-Laptop-.../dp/B004HHK1UG online and checked some videos online. I am pretty competent with electronics and so on so no worries about a n00b tinkering with a laptop.

Now my question is whether or not its actually bad to do so as I no longer have warranty on it. Anything I should watch out for? I have messes with laptop cpu's, built more then enough rigs, soldered on motherboards, xbox's and so on.

You shouldn't have any problems with replacing the LCD panel. You might want to also check ebay for a replacement panel.

Just be careful taking the front bezel apart. The screws are normally under the round rubber bumpers that stick on. Use the sharpened flat corner to pry the front bezel off. Don't break the tabs that hold it in place. As always, unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery before you start. The wide thin video cable connector on the back of the panel is sometimes a pain to unplug. You have to work at it a little.

replacing laptop LCD is pretty darn easy, I have done this for 3-4 Dells, you just need screw driver.

Thanks. I'll get on it. Ebay is showing about $120 or so shipped. Amazon Marketplace is seemingly cheaper. But I'll check around anyway.
