Replacing a dying H80

Hi all, I was reapplying the thermal paste for my H80 when I noticed that the copper base was very corroded. I'd guess this is galvanic corrosion. Should I replace it before there's problems and would replacing it with something like an H60 keep me at 4.6GHz like I have now?

Try cleaning it up a bit? Get some wet/dry 1000-2000 grit sand paper, wet it down and use a little dish soap and polish the copper clean.

I'll give it a try. I'm worried the damage is severe and that I'll have water on my gpu soon.

If its pitted real bad then I would replace it. But if its just surface corrosion it should clean up pretty easy. Heres a picture of the copper base plate so you can get an idea of how thick it is.

It's a blueish color on the bottom of it. I'll take some sandpaper to it when I get the chance. Why would there be corrosion on the outside of the block and not be originating from where the water is?

Don't they have a five year warranty? Put in an RMA ticket.
