i don't use this system for gaming purposes at all
my gaming rig uses x800xt but i don't think i could spend another 450 $ for another xt or gf6900

any help will be appreciated, thanks 🙂

Find yourself a quaility used 9800 pro should be able to get one for like $140 If your going to dip into the 9600 range atleast get the xt.

hmmm....did you even read what he said??

He already has a 9600pro, he's looking for an upgrade.

As said above, even a 9800pro isn't enough of an upgrade from what you have to justify
the extra money spent.

Only a 6600GT AGP would be a worthwhile upgrade from that card. 😉

Does anybody *read* threads around here?

I'd look for a GeForce FX card that you can softmod into a Quadro, then (can you mod a 9600Pro into a FireGL of some sort?). There's little point in buying a gaming card if you're not gaming with it, unless you can turn it into a 'workstation' card.

You could try flashing your 9600 Pro into a FireGL T2-128. Final cost = $0

Radeon 9600 Pro (400/300) To FireGL T2-128 (400/300)

Some people have successfully flashed their Radeon 9600 Pro cards into the FireGL T2-128. This mod shouldn't be a problem because both of these cards are exactly the same card. Both cards run at the same clock speeds and even have the same output capabilities.
