Hello everyone,

I am at about wits end with this video card. The Nvidia graphics drivers have been messing up my game play on Heroes of newerth that is due to driver issues. Also as of late i have been getting weird graphics errors and my monitor losing connection to the video card. Have had the card for over two years now and want to upgrade it.

My current system is this.

p35 mobo
E8400
4 gig ram
Seasonic 550w LINK for specs
24in samsung 1920x1080 and 2nd monitor 22in for dual display.

I want to buy an ATI card so i no longer experiance this problem in the game i play. What ATI card would be good for me to upgrade to on my system?

Also wouldnt mind a card that can do HDMI that can also stream the sound through the card if needs be.

Thanks!

Have you tried updating your drivers or using a different driver version ?

If you want an upgrade, and your resolution probably could use one with that card, and if you are set on ATI, wait about two weeks for the new 6XXX series Radeons to come out and pick one up then.

They are starting with mid-range cards, so expect pricing to likely be $200-$250.

wait about 10 days and the 6xxx series will be announced, with cards available most likely before month's end. you're probably better off getting a 6xxx, but you should also be able to get a smokin' deal on a good 5 series soon as well.

edit: groove you beat me to it.

Will my cpu bottleneck a 6xxx cpu though?

Well, it depends. Generally speaking, you should be fine playing at 1080p. I will not worry about buying a new system. Overclock your current CPU.. they are great overclockers.

Yeah I was thinking about ocing the cpu soon. Guess ill wait and see then for the 6xxx series or how low the 5xxx series will go.

I really just want to get away form the Nvidia cards. This last one has disgusted me to no end on its problems from day one.

same question nearly identical setup.
love Nvidia though and only reason I'm looking at finally replacing the 8800 GTS 512 is the newer games are taxing it for sure..

tempted to start upgrading again system is starting to show it's age.

If you've toughed it out this long I would wait about 2 more weeks up to a month for the new ATI Radeon HD 6000 series cards are announced and available.

You should be able to get a great card at a great price as soon as those are available, whether it be HD 5000 series, HD 6000 or another nVidia card.
