Replacement venting fuel nozzle for 5 gallon gas can

Does anybody know of a good replacement nozzle for the newer style 5 gallon gas can? I have two of them and neither nozzle will allow fuel to flow anymore. I ended up having to take the nozzle off my older fuel can to try to get some fuel out but of course it doesnt have any venting so it was tricky.

Those are for the old style cans which had a vent hole in them. This is a new style can that doesnt have the vent hole.

The new gas cans with the new "can't get a damned bit of gas out of the can" spouts is one reason older gas cans are fetching decent money at auctions.

Not bad. I was wondering about adding a vent and then just using an old style nozzle as long as the threading works.

I wonder if the gasoline is going to interact with the rubber of the valve stem though. Plus you would need to get the bits of plastic out.

I'm well aware of that, that is why I recommended that kit, it gives you everything you need to add the vent hole and make your modern crappy can work like the old good ones.

Yeah, that's what the push in replacement vent is for. You drill a hole in the plastic can and pop the vent in and use their spout and it's just like the good ole days. It turns the crappy new can into one of the good pre-2009 cans.

Problem with the old style cans was that they weren't too sealed so they leaked the volatiles which made the gasoline go bad and causes smog. The new designed nozzles are pretty shitty so it gives the EPA a bad rap. It's not the EPA's fault that these companies can't design a proper gas can.

In theory, the new can designs should mean your gasoline won't go stale and will last significantly longer.

I just took a finishing nail, and punched a tiny hole in the back of the handle area of my two 2-gallon cans. Big enough to allow air to easily flow into the can while I'm pouring gas out, but small enough that you're not losing a lot to vapors escaping the can, and no water gets in there if it's left outside and it rains. :thumbsup:

The evaporation of the volatile organic compounds DOES make gasoline go bad. I've had gasoline stored in air tight containers for 5 years, used no additives or anything and the gas was in good shape. When the gasoline evaporates, it leaves behind varnish and other shit that by itself makes the gasoline useless.

All things deteriorate due oxygen and the evaporation of these compounds. Rubber gets hard and crumbles for similar reasons gasoline goes bad.

These cans are the best example that comes to mind of legislation making perfectly usable items much, much worse. It would be like if for some reason a new law said you can't take right turns going more than 30 mph. They are annoying as all hell.

it's not the legislation's fault that blitz can't make a damn can if their life depended on it. The legislation says to make a can that's air tight. As for the safety lock shit, I don't agree with it but whatever.

Blitz can't make anything that is with a damn. I've had so many of their crappy oil pans it isn't even funny, call breaks after the first use.
