Any ABIT, MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte nForce 2. ASUS is my personal fav but they can be pricey.

Abit KV7 refurb from newegg, less than $40. shipped. Excellent mobo but it may come totally naked so you'll have to schmooze Abit out of an I/O shield or buy one from excaliberpc.com as it's non-standard, but you won't know 'til you get it in your hands. And you'll probably have to DL a manual and drivers too. I've bought three or four refurbs from newegg over the last couple of months and they have all worked perfectly and all came totally naked in a white box.

nForce2 owns the Athlon XP. Hands down. The only thing other chipsets might have on nForce2 is price but only by a few dollars. Listen to Budman; you will not go wrong with the Asus A7N8X boards. Just pick the one with the options and price that works for you.

There's no subjective difference between any of the better chipsets. The Via chipsets are within a few percentage points of nvidia on most synthetic benchmarks and their drivers are more stable now. I've had six different Via chipset mobos over the last few years and all have been rock solid. If you want the latest, newegg has a refurb Asus A7V880 with the KT-880 chipset. Considering the price newegg is asking, it should be a complete package. But you might consider going new as the price is so close. And if lowest price is important, SiS based mobos are hard to beat and their drivers are solid. Asrock (Asus' budget line) makes some good ones as well as a very nice one with the Via KT-880.
