I have my 3000+ OC'ed to 2.3ghz and i get idle temps during the day at around 32-35c, loads at 45-46, and at night it's idling like 37-39 and loading to around 50, so i want something that has nice adjustable speeds, higher, does better cooling and such.
any ideas?

LOL...You are joking right??? 32-35c is not good enough??? idle temps at night are higher???

That stock cooler is running great and you should be fine...continue to OC....

I can tell you that you will not see much of an improvement at idle temps but may see a bit of a loading decrease but again probably not much cause you are doing so good now....

I think I would push the cpu higher first then run S&M 1.3.....If you hit over 60c then start to think about getting a new HSF....S&M 1.3 heats the cpu up as high as any program out there, and to levels I have never been able to duplicate with real world apps to date...If that doens't hit 60c you will be hard pressed to ever hit it while working with it...

You really shouldn't be concerned about those temps. By most standards, they are perfectly fine. Also, most motherboard temp sensors are off, the only real way to tell if your temps are OK is to run Prime95. If your temps are too high, Prime95 will crash; if it doesn't, the temps are fine.

oh alright thanks guys, yeah i've been running s n' m and prime and some superpi, everything has been doing well, haven't had the time though to run the thing for hours upon hours on prime though, never seen the thing go above bout 51c so yeah i guess i'm alright as you guys say.

edit---- i've tried to put it higher before, but to no avail, even raising voltage wouldn't let me push it another 9mhz steppings are CBBFD 0442RPCW.

What vcore are you running???

If you literally hit a wall no matter a boost in vcore then itis more likley there is another limiting factor....What are you using for a ram divider and cas timings??? They are liklely too agressive or too high for the vdimm you are offering...Also as you hold on to a higher an dhigher ram speed it eventually needs a boost of vcore for the cpu as well since the memory controller is in the chip...

What is the vdimm??? I would try a 133 divider right now and see if you can push the cpu higher at current vcore....may also set the vcore to 2.75v since it is likely the vdimm undervolts as well...

With the stock HSF on a Winchester Athlon 64 3000+ to 3500+ you should be able to safely hit 2.5ghz at safe temperatures (roughly 55C and under). If you can't hit higher than 2.3ghz then I'd look at your cpu as the problem and not the HSF.
