Replacement for Encrypted Directory

I'm not sure this is the proper forum but it's security related so I figured I'd start here.

I'm looking for an alternative to the Windows Encrypted Directory.

Prior to my arrival an encrypted directory was setup on our server drive (Windows 2003) and only a couple of people have access to the files stored there (other than the owners of the documents).

We have been experiencing more turn over than usual and keeping all of the security certificates in place and moving them from PC to PC and/or backing them up when PC's get rebuilt is a PITA (my opinion).

We are getting ready to move to a new server (still 2003) and before I just move this directory over, I thought I'd just see if there were any alternatives.

I know I can restrict access to the directory and I'm waiting to hear if that's good enough, but if not I'm looking for an alternative.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

really haven't worked with this before, but you may want to try asking the guys in operating systems or software for windows. just ask the mods to move the thread to the appropriate place

Do you mean EFS? You may want to just make a truecrypt container and keep it mounted all the time.

Truecrypt is very awesome. We use it for all of our notebook computers and USB sticks.
