Replacement for a 120x38 Panaflo L1A

Hiya guys, been ages since I posted in C&C forums.

My 120mmx38mm Panaflo L1A has bit the bullet. Cant get it to fire up even on a full 12V (it ran at just over the bare minimum to spin it up)

I need something to replace it. I need something that is the same size. just as quiet at those speeds and shifts the same if not more air, something that is happy on a 0V-12V Sunbeam Rheobus.

I do not wish to by a direct replacement unless there is nothing better that has came out in the 2-3 years I have had this fan.

Any suggestions? Delta Triple Blades were the kings last I read.

Edit: I am thinking of getting a Thermalright Ultima 90 (I cant tell if it will fit my MSI K9N Neo V3 -> AM2 X2 6000+) and putting a 120mm fan on that, same principle as above although I am sure a 25mm deep fan would be ok for this. Has to undervolt well on a Sunbeam Rheobus and has to be very quiet.

Delta like you already mentioned or a Sanyo Denki if you can find it instock anywhere. I haven't tried the new Scythe 120x38mm so can't comment on those.

New Scythe Slip Stream 120x25mm are great fans. 800rpm should be good for that heatsink, but you may want to go with the 1000 since it's going to be on a rheobus anyway. I've got the 1900rpm on a TR Ultra 120x and Sunbeam Rheo and it doesn't give much better cooling above 800rpm or so.

Z has it for 38mm fans but Panaflos are still decent too - just not as good as before. Sanyos have gotten scarce and are running near $20. when you can find. I have one new one left in my listing linked below. I don't think Petra's has any, only other place is ThermalFX.com except those thieves that claim to have "refurbs" at $80. or so each. Occasionally used ones on fleabay.

Being based in the UK, I was going to say that American websites are useless.

However, Delta Triple Blades arent available in the UK and I have done some great business with Sidewinder in the past, they do a great personal service and if I get this nailed down quickly, I'll get everything before christmas.

The Ultima is a good choice? Delta Triple Blade 38mm's to replace my exhaust? Delta Triple Blade 120x25 or 90x25 on my Ultima?

Conjugal Visit: A Slipstream 120x25 can push the same amount of air as a 120x38 Panaflo L1A at a difference of 24 dBa for the Slipstream and 30 dBa for the Panaflo? That just sounds totally and utterly bonkers.

Look at Sidewinder Computers for the Delta Tri-Blade. I think the Sanyo-Denki "San-Ace" 120x38mm, 0.52A fans can be had at Crazy-PC. Of course, stuff changes, and models in stock change, but that's where you'll find 'em.

On the matter of the "Deafening Deltas." The tri-blade is rated at close to 51 dBA with a top-end rpm of 3,700-something and a CFM just short of 150. It's pretty darn quiet between 1,900 and 2,500 -- for those speeds. I think the tri-blade is 0.81 Amp, and you can control it off a CPU_FAN mobo plug -- or any other mobo fan-plug that provides some sort of thermal control.

For the San-Aces, you may want to put a dab of teflon-gun-grease in the hub and bearings of the thing, and then re-seal the paper label with a very thin coat of "Automotive Goop" between the plastic housing and the label. I'd say that's worth doing from the git-go, because I have two of these and they have a faint bearing rattle that goes away with the lubrication.

Doesn't it? This fan is getting a lot of attention now that it 's available on US websites, Elcs. Here's a couple of threads that you might look at. I can tell you, that's the direction I'll be moving when I change fans out:

Ok.

I want similar noise, better performance than my Panaflo L1A at around the 7-8V mark.

Delta Triple Blade or these Scythes? I must say, if SPCR are impressed with them then they do look tasty.

Alright, it didnt occur to me to ask this....

Does the TR Ultima 90 fit in an Antec SLK3000B case and on an MSI K9N Neo V3 (NForce 560) motherboard?

Is it a worthy heatsink to keep an X2 6000+ chilly with a very quiet fan?

The ultima seems extremely well priced and not absolutely massive. Performance seems decent too.

Delta Triple Blades & Sanyo Denkis for me. Of the two, DTBs are my favorite now. Never again will I buy a damned UV LED fan. (Thanks GY)
