replacement for 30 gig ibm travelstart 40GN

i am looking to replace a dead 30 gig ibm travelstart 40GN for a sony vaio PCG-R505DL. i want to get a 60 gig hdd now.. what hard disks are compatible... ?

i am mainly concerned with the height of the new hdd since the laptop has a steel cage to which the hard disk is screwed on to. and i think a height greater than that of the current hdd (9.5 mm) will not align well with the holes on the cage

can some body please provide some info on this... thanks in advance

I bought a 60 gb hdd from Hitachi with 16mb cache and 5400 RPM. It fits perfectly, faster and quieter. For $115.00! Yes, I used it on a Sony VAIO.

Any 9.5mm HD will fit your laptop. Hitachi makes some nice and fast notebook HDD's.
