Replacement fan for XFX 8800GTS

It looks like the cooler on my current video card has crapped out. I'm going to play around a bit with nTune, but right now it looks like I can still use it while running Windows applications but playing any games will cause it to overheat and crap out.

Assuming I can't fix the fan by dusting/cleaning it out, does anyone know where I could get a replacement fan that fits? XFX cards have a lifetime warranty, but much to my disgust I realized you must have registered the card with XFX within 30 days of purchasing it which I didn't do :-/
 
you can find an after market cooler, but gpu coolers are quite pricey. In all honesty for a bit more money you can probably buy a new or used gpu that will performance better than the 8800gts
 
If his card is the G92 (512mb) then that one and many other coolers will fit. If it's the G80 (320mb, 640mb) it won't. You can do some surgery to make it work, but I wouldn't recommend it.

With the G80 you're limited to the Thermalright HR-03 Plus, Zalman VF-1000, and a few others. They're usually a bit on the pricey side.

p.s. you may try contacting XFX directly, stranger things have happened.

I don't have the cooler myself, but I'm 99% sure that it's not compatible with the G80. This is from the following assumptions...a) It does not state specifically that it's compatible with the 8800GTS (G80). b) It does not state that it's compatible with the 8800GTX which has the same mounting holes.

That, and if it was, you'd see at least one review with it mounted to a G80. Owners of the 8800GTS 640mb (myself included) are always on the lookout for inexpensive aftermarket coolers. The ones that I have found are junk, or you can't buy them anymore. I got a used HR-03 Plus that's awesome, but takes up 4+ slots.

In addition, wtf is a 8800GTX (G92) in their compatibility charts?

Looks like I don't need to get an aftermarket cooler after all.

I semi-dismantled my card, and pulled off the cooling fan. The part itself looks pretty generic, apparently it's a Delta Electronics BFB1012L fan. Now I just need to figure out where to order it online.
 
Ha, I rigged a temporary solution. I removed the plastic cover from the card's heat sink and pulled out an old case fan I had sitting around in my basement. I directed the fan so that it blows over the heat sink and that seems to be good enough to keep my computer operating within normal temperatures. Unfortunately it's pretty loud, so I still need to find a permanent replacement for the blower fan on my card. There's a pretty good electronics store near me that I'll try to hit up sometime in the next week unless someone here knows where I could find a replacement for the fan online. Nobody seems to have a BFB1012L blower fan in stock.
 
Yeah, you can strap an 80mm case fan onto a G80 heatsink, and it will actually do a better job than the reference cooler in many cases.

If you can get a low speed or a variable speed fan it should solve the noise issues.
 
Never use WD40! WD40 is meant to remove rust and prevent corrosion, not act a lubricant. Use some kind of machine oil or 3 in 1 lubricant.
