Replacement fan for heatsink?

So I got my 1283, and the fan either doesn't run at all, or runs at a very low rpm. So I'm thinking its a bad fan... don't see any obstructions or anything. So I figure I might get a better fan for the heatsink. Any ideas?

Also, is there a benefit to getting a 4-pin fan (not molex) vs. a 3 pin fan?

If the fan is plugged into a controlled motherboard fan header, that may be all the motherboard is calling for.

Hook it to an uncontrolled header and see if it runs full speed.

How's your temps?

My temps are idling at 25-30C according to core temp... ok so it runs when I plug it into a 3-pin connector, however its running at a rather slow rpm... are xigmatek cpu fans low rpm?

800-1500RPM. Very quiet fan

OP, have you visually confirmed that its not spinning when plugged into the cpu fan header

Red Scorpion, has the fan topping out at 1500 rpm. The vanilla S1283 fan spins much faster, above 2000 rpm if I'm not mistaken.

You are. All 120mm xigmateks are 800-1500RPM, except the dark knight one, which goes to 2200

No, I'm not wrong. On the official Xigmatek site, it seems that all heatsinks fans are topping out at 1500 rpm, but in some reviews, the vanilla S1283 fan, had between 1000-2200 rpm. Maybe they've changed it or something.

Look at this review.
