Damn fan on my WBK38 is loud as fvck. Sounds like a hair dryer. Anyone got any suggestions on what I can replace it with that's waaay quieter. Thanks. :)

I've got a Vantec HS that came with a nice loud 60mm fan too.
I tried to live with it for a while, but just couldn't stand it. I tried dual 50mm fans (side to side, not stacked), for a time. But I just didn't think that they were doing what I wanted.
So I caved and bought a 60mm fan. I got this 60mm ADDA fan to slap on my Vantec HS. You can see by the specs that it's not a "turbo-blower" like the Delta's or some of their kin. But the fan is doing a gret job (and QUIET), for me.

BTW...
1. I removed the shaft label/seal and oiled it with a couple of drops of 3 in one oil. Then re-sealed it with some "foil" duct tape. A roll of it sells for about $6 at Home Depot. It's also great for mounting fans to HS. A roll should last a long, long time.
2. I "polished" the fan up a little with some 600 wet/dry.
3. Swapped the 2 pin connector out for a 4 pin.
[I had to plug one of my 3 pin fans into the CPU HS/Fan header on the MB, to keep my "Hardware Dr." alarm from going off everytime I rebooted.]

[Edit] All Electronics has some pretty cool stuff at good prices. With $5 shipping you might want to look around a little. :)

Here's what I did with my FOP38; it should work the same way for you (I think the WBK has the same clipping mechanism).

You'll notice that the clip that holds the fan on is just attached through the screw holes for the 60mm fan. What I did is to take a nice quiet Sanyo Denki 55cfm 92mm fan (~33dB) and put a fan grille on the side that was going to face the heatsink. Then it's just a matter of trial and error to get the clip secured to the grille. You may have trouble with this if your case doesn't allow you enough room to center the fan on top of the heatsink. You could try fixing it on there slightly off-center (i.e. so that the center of the fan is closer to the bottom of the heatsink than the top) to see if that helps you fit it into your case. Mine just barely fit and I have a big Antec SX1240 tower.

Anyway, this solution is much quieter than the delta fan and cools the cpu just about as well. Plus, it should provide some general case cooling as an added benefit since the fan sticks out so far over the side of the heatsink and blows so many cfm.

Let me know if it works for you.

Blain,
Nice post dude, I'm gonna try your suggestions. I just checked out some fans I had laying around and I can definately see what your saying about the rough edges. Thanks.

I went with a 60mm to 80mm adapter on my Kanie Hedgehog..went from a 60mm Delta to an 80mm 68CFM Delta. Quiet enough for me and the Hedgehog is getting more than enough fresh air on it now LOL
