the fan that came on my sapphire 9100 has started to get kind of loud and its speed is becoming a little erratic. anyone know where I can obtain a replacement? or does anyone have any suggestions for 3rd party active/passive cooling?
thanks in advance.

I've heard that Thermaltake blue orb fans are pretty good for video cards. Check it out Here Type model number in pricewatch and u can find a good price for the fan.

Their cooling is more than adaquate, but it's louder than the original 9100 fan by quite a bit, just to warn you.

Remove the fan, lift up the sticker in the back & then drop a bit of oil in the hole, put back sticker & fan.

My fan was starting to make noises too but that fixed it right up,been running fine for 2 months like that . 🙂

Thanks Budman. I actually unscrewed the fan today and was trying to clean it or make sure it was seated evenly (you can power the fan independent of the video card, I was using a shortwave radio display connection as a power source for the fan...he he), but I didn't have anything to lubricate it with on hand. Since I don't have any lying around and I'm gonna have to go out and buy it anyways, I may as well ask; what kind of oil did you use?

Thanks to every else, I'll check out the blue orb and zalman for future reference, but keeping it quiet is really the biggest priority here (and not spending money unless I have to).

Well, the reason I suggested the Zalman bracket was because that's what many have done to reduce the amount of noise generated by their video card as it is much quieter. But if you're fine with the noise the stock fan is making after you've cleaned it up, no need to spend the money. 🙂

I thought most OEMs came with a one-year warranty from the reseller? That's how it works with most Sapphires, AFAIK.
