Replacement card for 6850

Hi Everyone, I am trying to find a replacement card for a 6850 (watercooler decided to leak). While I am planning on trying to claim warranty, I wanted to find a new card to purchase just in case.

I have 2 24" monitors that I run at 1920 x 1080, and while I don't play too many games now, I would like to get something that could handle (within the price range), some of the graphic intense games recently released.

While I do know of the different chips/models (6850,5970, GTX 460, etc), the part I'm having problems with is what to look for besides how much memory it comes with. When I look at the details at Newegg, I'm seeing Stream Processors, Core Clock. So while someone might say get a GTX 460, what would be the one to get.

I'm willing to spend between $100-$200 & would like to get the best bang for the buck, with obviously spending the lower end of the price range.

What I would like is to avoid spending more on just slightly higher performance. What I mean is, by using another comparison

19" tv - $150 27" $200 32" $400
500G HD - $75 1TB $100 1.5TB $200

I would pay for the 27" & 1TB because you get more for slightly more, but wouldn't pay for the 32" or 1.5 b/c its not much more for a lot more $$$

Also just a separate question, I used the gpu2011 comparison chart to compare a 6850 to a 5970 & it shows the 5970 beating the 6850. Is this correct?

I hope if CoolIT doesn't cover your losses you won't try to claim warranty through XFX or your MB manufacturer. That would be warranty fraud.

A 5970 is a dual GPU card, so yes it will easily beat a 6850, but you also will not find one for near $200. A 5870, if that is what you meant is faster than a 6850, it is generally a hair faster than a 6870 as well.

If you want to keep things cheap I would just pick up a second 6850 and crossfire it with your other once it comes back from warranty. You can get a 6850 for around $125-130 after rebate these days and even less if you sell the bundled included game(s) (Around $100 if you sell the Dirt3 and Shogun 2 if you get such a combo at Newegg). My 6850 in my son's rig OC's past 6870 speeds and them is crossfire will generally beat even a GTX580 in most games.

Really beyond that, your next logical step for worthwhile performance would be a GTX 560 Ti or HD 6950 1GB, both coming in at about $200 after rebate. Maybe a GTX 470 if you can find one.
 
TY for the response. I wasn't planning on running crossfire. Should I look at another card?

I was going to claim warranty with the cooler mfgr since it was their product that went bust.

Originally the picture would flash (screen go blank & come back) and after a few days the picture actually stayed. Now when I am using the computer & listening to something, the screen will go blank & if there was any sound playing that also stops. The computer stays on & doesn't reboot. The only way to get it to come back is to restart the computer.

Anything to try first?

If there really isn't anything to try, I probably was going to get the card Russian mentioned.

Hey i am looking for a reference 'AMD Radeon HD 6850'. i bought koolance's VID-AR685 which is a full card waterblock and apparently my card isn't a reference design. Does ANYONE know where to get the AMD branded (original) video card?
