My good friend totaled his car. 2004 G35 sedan manual trans with 202k. Insurance cut him a check for $9k and he has $4k saved, making a total of $14k max. So roughly we are looking for $11-13k cars since he needs to acccount for TTL and etc. He would like to get cars under 150k and the newe model year the better (mainly a rust concern)
He loved the car but isn't going to get another one. Things he liked
- power delivery
- ease of maintenance and space to work
- common parts all over the place, VQ35
- performance parts were easy to get
- little sense of luxury
- not too many rust parts aside from exhaust.
What would currently good replacement cars?
- Subaru turbo cars. IE Legacy GT, outback/forester XT, WRX prem, SAAB 9-2x
He wasn't too fond of the 2005ish acura TL or a honda S2000. He did like the IS300 but said it was lacking power.
He has been loving the idea of a 2009 gti 4 door. I just told him it's normally not as dependable.
