I have a Sony VAIO VGN-NW228F/B laptop that uses VGP-BPS13B/Q(stock OEM) and VGP-BPS13A/B(Sony 4800mAh) batteries. I need another battery and the genuine Sony batteries are getting hard to find and very expensive.
There are plenty of "replacement" batteries available, but some of them say they won't work with the Win7 64bit OS and that you need a "BIOS Update" to use replacement batteries. Anyone have any idea what is changed in the BIOS to accept replacement batteries? I'd like to have a look before the BIOS is changed.
I think that the Sony ISB Utility, which checks for non-Sony products, may also have to be disabled.
Anyone have any experience using replacement batteries with Sony VAIO laptops?
