Replacement Audigy Drivers?

Is any one aware of drivers that would replace creative's drivers for soundblaster cards? The drivers they have really suck, and thought that since so many people use their cards and so many people agree the drivers suck, and that theres open source drives for linux, there would be some better drivers written by the comunity that are a lot better... Any ideas?

not to my knowledge. i have never have had any problems with my audigy 2s drivers, but yeh, they sucked bad in the SB live days, my SB live was tossed on the shelf and replaced after fighting those things. Swore i would never buy creative again, then my soundstorm's left channel failed and i bought an audigy 2 zs and loved it. if you do a custom install with their drivers, you can cut out allot of the bloat.

One who has problems installing and setting up a soundcard should seek help rather than kvetching. It is easy to blame drivers, but there are so many variables. A common user err is installing the card in the wrong slot. KX are for audio recording on the cheap and are to be avoided for general use and especially for gaming.

I have an Audigy2. I don't notice anything wrong with the drivers. What about the drivers don't you like?

I bought an audigy 1 platinumn when it was released and i still have it = love it. I like the idea of the buoilt in eq with K, but i still prefer winamp and the sound editing software i have.

No, no, no. You don't understand.
Creative drivers SUCK.

I can use them, if I wish, but to be honest, I'd rather have the 5.1 from my onboard sound than my Audigy 1, because it's a hell of a lot easier to set up, and it doesn't involve having the Creative bloatware installed on my computer to upmix the sound.
Creative sucks. The OP knows how to install drivers, he just doesn't want to have to because the drivers suck. Bloated, unecessary, just done badly.

IDK what the big f'in deal is with Creative's drivers sucking so bad. The only complaints I have are all the extra bloated crap (why do I need software to dock with every Creative MP3 player in existence?!), having 5 control panels to wade through if I need to find a setting, and having to install the drivers off the CD first to get any semblance of a customized control panel. Other than that I don't really see any glaring issues with their drivers.

With all due respect, 'tis pathological to decry five minutes setup time in favour of suffering countless hours with onboard "software" audio. The interface for Audigy does suck compared to that for the Audigy 2. driverheaven has it if you want.

If you actually peruse a manual to discover which mobo slot does not share resources, that is a pre-emptive strike against potential problems. After that, deciding on the minimum installation requirement for your needs and taking a moment to configure is all there is to it. I really don't know what the beeg deal is. If you don't want performance or features you shouldn't buy such hardware. It is akin to a viddy card in that you don't have to install and configure the control panel but if you don't you are certainly missing out and prolly wasting your money compared to something simpler.
