for what it's worth, i've put in a JDM sr20det (turbocharged) .. with 7 psi of boost (when a daily driver..)

put countless hours and not too much money into it..

the pic doesn't do it justice. im gonna take more tommorow

fwiw..

I can lower it more very easily. takes like 20 min total. Also, the shock stiffness is adjustable as the car is. you reach through the wheel and turn a knob and it has 8 settings (1 is soft, 8 is stiff)

since it has coilovers, i can lower it, but i have to take the tires off to do so, and from there all it takes is an allen wrench. good stuff..

thats pretty nice man.. must be pretty quick with the sr20det in there? what exactly is consisted of the "suspension junk"? hard to do, expensive parts or no?

there's some more pics. a lot of them look kind of orange (i think the lighting was wierd.. it was about to storm that day, and green streetlights looked blue-ish..) but it is fire engine red.

i can do low to mid 13's very consistently if i turn the boost up to 13 psi. I don't want to go any higher than that as those engines are very easy to obtain. I run 6-7psi daily. The chassis has 80ish k on it, and the engine has 10k. I bought the car a year ago for $5000 (Got a GREAT deal) with 50k miles from an older woman who took great care of it (garaged all it's life)

very nice, quick, reliable, fun little car. (it is little though.. backseats = suckage)

How'd you put Tein coilovers on AGX shocks? Tein coilovers come as a complete shock/damper/spring unit. Tein does produce lowering springs, however.

I bought it as a kit from some kid in japan. it might be ground control? I'm not sure. I've had all the stuff for about 6 months but haven't had the time to put it on..

I'd like to see some pictures of the engine. See if the bay is kept as clean as the rest of the car.

Most likely Ground Control. What color is the collar and the spring and the shock? Do you have pics of the parts?

Ground Control springs and Tien coilovers are veeeery different. You can easily tell them apart. For that matter, you can tell apart coilovers and springs apart very easily.

they're ground control. i went out and looked at the boxes. they are red, with a gold perch (is that the correct term) ill take some engine pics tommorow..
it uses eibach springs, motivational rear mounts, koni bump stops, agx adjustable shocks, energy suspension bushings..

Yes and this goes to say you can tell apart "coilover sleeves" and coilovers very easily too. Coilover sleeves are not the same as coilovers (also know as true or full coilovers).

Those AGX shocks should do the job for the ground controls at the height you are running them at, however, the AGX wasn't entirely desinged for coilover sleeves, and will wear out faster. This is mainly because the shocks cannot properly dampen because of the high spring rates on some coilover sleeves.

Complete coilovers (like Apexi, Tein, JIC, H&R, etc) are designed with the shock and spring rates in mind; they are a matching set, and perform much better than just sticking some Ground Controls on AGX or other shocks.

Props for modding the suspension in a way that actually helps handling, and not in a way that "looks cool" :)

I have read numerous times that KYB/AGX will not warrantee the shocks if they fail and you have lowered it beyond 1.5", so just don't lower more than 1.5".

Try recording it in the garage, or on a warm windless day...the garage may have too much reflection however. And don't put the mic very close to the source (like a exhaust) otherwise you will get bad muffling, but don't put it too far away.

Well..

I have the stock muffler, with 3inch mandrel bent tubing to the muffler.

my thing, is that i think the engine sounds 100x better when it's actually pulling the car rather than at a standstill.

there's some dyno day thing going on in about 3 weeks. i might bring a digital recorder to that and do it while they dyno it

or try and find a place under the hood i can put it
