One of my 650D's 200mm fans died, or was dying. It was rattling heavily and was difficult to spin by hand. I really think Corsair makes the best cases but their fans are complete garbage.
Anyway I got myself 3x Noctua S12Bs and moved the working 200mm fan to the front, which was the broken fan. I also used one of my extra Noctua fan resistors to make it run slower and used rubber screws for the front fans. I have a spare NZXT 200mm fan but I accidentally bought a 200x30mm and I need a 200x20, I'll be replacing it tomorrow.
Everything is running at around 600rpm now, it's really quiet. Almost creepy. But I do need the silence for my production work.
All in all I spent $106 with tax but to be frank the difference in volume is amazing. If I put these fans in something like a Fractal R3 or Solo 2 I'd imagine it would be so quiet you wouldn't be able to tell if the PC was on or not.
Up next I plan to replace the fan on my Scythe Mugen 2, anyone have any recommendations or should I just get a Noctua NH-D14?
