Replaced Linksys WPC11 with Orinoco Silver; not working

I replaced a Linksys PC card with the Orinoco silver. Downloaded the latest config utility and drivers for XP. Orinoco shows as working fime under XP, but I cannot get a connection to my WAP11. I matched the SSID and channel and enabled WEP with the same password I am using for the WAP11.

What am I doing wrong? I disabled the WPC11 prior to removing it, but did not uninstall the hardware.

Please help since I cannot get to the AP to configure it through the USB port, since it's in my daughter's room and she is sleeping for the night.

TIA

Although I have never used the Orinoco card, I doubt that they use the same WEP key alogrithem to generate their WEP keys from passwords. You will probably have manually type in the actual HEX code in to the card's setup. THis will probably solve your problem.

I did the exact same thing. I ended up disabling WEP through the USB config and it worked.

Some hardware want their WEP key in ASCII and some want it in HEX. Linksys' website has a conversion utility you can use.

One possibility is ORiNOCO Silver only supports 64-bit WEP, and not 128-bit.
