Replaced LCD screen and Inverter on my HP DV6000 laptop

Alright so I got home one day and noticed the graphics on my laptop look off. They're not inverted and my screen is not dim at all. The screen is just a bit shaky and lacks all of the colors. It looks like 8-bit or something. Graphics drivers have been updated/installed.

I did a little research and most said the inverter, so I bought a new one and replaced it. No luck.

So I went for a new LCD and put it in, no luck.

When I hook my laptop up to an external display everything looks fine there. So It can't be the motherboard right?

What is causing this problem? Any advice/ideas? Is it some type of cable connection?

Do you have a picture of the display? Hard to tell what you mean by the graphics being "off."

Also, the laptop displays w/ the same issues in safe mode.

I updated the BIOS as well.

Running HP diagnostics just to make sure nothing else is going on.

If it's working correctly on an external display, my guess would be that the internal connector on the motherboard isn't passing the signal correctly to the laptop display. You might check that connector for bent or corroded pins. It could possibly be the ribbon cable that goes from the display to the internal connector, but since you've tried two separate displays, that's probably not the problem.

If it does happen to be the internal connector on the mobo that isn't passing the signal.... and cleaning it doesn't help. That would require a motherboard replacement right?

That's what I fear - it may not be worth my time.

I'm going to try the LCD cable replacement first... and go from there.

These HP DV6000 models are junk!
