Replaced CMOS battery, USB problems

Hi, I'm wondering if any of you tech gurus could help me before I just go out and buy a new motherboard. After my Windows 7 system clock went on the fritz, I replaced the CMOS battery on my ASUS Z87 motherboard. My wired USB keyboard and mouse both work upon initially booting up the system and in the BIOS. However, once the Windows splash screen appears, the keyboard and mouse cease to function. Even after several restarts, leaving the system on for periods of time, trying out different USB 2/3 ports, nothing seems to work. I searched around and found out many other people who've had the same issue, but typically they don't ever post the resolution. Can anybody be so kind as to assist me? Thanks!
