Okay on an asrock z97e-itx the cpu pins are crushed/bent.

The board is new a victim of someones shaky hands. Has anyone sent boards back to asrock and gotten a new one for a fee?

Basically this was a 140 usd board with 0 use, I do not mind paying a fee for an exchange of boards. Maybe 50 to 70 for a swap or is this a full loss?

I figured I would ask here then ask asrock directly.

I THE REPLACEMENT TODAY! APR 20TH

total cost was 56 bucks for a new board well worth it as these go for 135 or so.

Stephanie of Asrock was very helpful. Thanks to her, Asrock and anyone that bother to post here.

ASRock is pretty good about working with you on these things. I've fixed bent socket pins with a needle though.

Gigabyte is also very helpful with there boards, they don't overly charge you like some companies do/would. I think they fix the first few pins for free, don't quote me on that.

I've sold boards and got them back with crushed pins, and I've bought boards with crushed pins. But so far I have never thrown that lever over an improperly placed CPU, thank goodness.

I'd RMA it truthfully, and let the chips fall where they may, so to speak.

I sent an rma request in around 4 pm today.

I said that shaky hands bent the pins. Which is true and asked for a repair or replacement. I am awaiting the reply.

Manufacturers have the ability to replace CPU sockets very efficiently, so it may be in their interests to help you out. It's good PR and doesn't cost them very much. But I suppose you might be asked to pay something for the effort.

Well the board goes for 134.99 on newegg. So 50 to 60 bucks is still worth it.

I am awaiting an rma number but I am in the system. Maybe by Monday or Tues> I get a number. I read it as I ship it to them cost me 10 bucks and they will replace it for 50 bucks. Still worth it. Here is the board on newegg

I buy boards with bad pins, I have 2 systems running fine both had bent pins. It all depends on what pins and how badly they are bent, some will break off the minute you touch them. Some can be moved right back into place with the flick of a pin.
I never closed a clam shell with the CPU in wrong, but you would be amazed at how itchy you get as you move closer to that socket.......:whiste:

I can fix bent pins this one had 6 bent pins. And 1 pin missing. the missing pin was why i sent it in. It will cost me 56 dollars to get a 135 dollar board.

I am going to build a small rig with it for ht. and a little gaming.

Yeah missing pin is the back breaker, I fixed one where only one pin was missing . The board wouldn't boot with out it, so I took some wire and made a pin. The board booted and over clocked above 5000Mhz, left the 2500K in the socket and sold it.
Good luck I hope it all works out for you, let us know what happens...

I will post the conclusion.

The mobo is on its way to Asrock America's Chino, CA location.

The RMA specialist's name is Stephanie. She seems to be a good employee.

I am hoping all will be fixed by Monday the 20th.

EDIT:

They let me know they got it today weds the 15th

Does that including shipping and everything?

yes it is due to my home this monday.

they asked for a 50 dollar check
and just the mobo. I was able to pack and fit the mobo into a an empty box and fit that into an usps flat rate padded envelope. so shipping from NJ to CA was 5.95 . thank goodness it was an itx size.

can't complain 56 for a 135 board. I think I will wait just a bit for new gen desktop cpu a nice i7 and have a small powerhouse pc.

It came today the 20th of April with good pins and all is well in my neck of the woods. Thanks to all that helped with this. Now to decide on what cpu.
