Replace ST60? Live with it?

I purchased an ST60 before anyone had a chance to review it and before we really knew Panasonic wouldn't be fixing the input lag issue.

Now I have the option to return it, though it would be an annoying situation (ship to them, when they receive it in perfect condition, they send me a check...I'm out over $1k for 30 days without a TV). Teaches me to buy direct and now go through B&M.

I am looking around and finding that its almost impossible to find another TV with the same quality, price, and no input lag. The closest I've found is the ET60 LED Panasonic but its $200 more expensive and doesn't have as great of PQ.

I'm thinking I may just keep the ST60 and buy a gaming monitor to use on the side when I want to game. There doesn't appear to be any great gaming TVs out there without sacrificing PQ or paying out the nose.

What do you guys think? Are there any great TVs with low input lag that are up for consideration? Live with the input lag? I admittedly game rarely these days but I don't want to get back into it and run into issues.

I got this model, for $699! And I haven't noticed any more motion blur on it that I haven't noticed before in spots on the same movie while using my Panasonic 3d blu-ray player. My old HDTV was an LCD 120hz 46" Samsung BTW, and the times I do see some motion blur is in wide field scanning shots of the entire screen at once, but I think this is because of the various sample rates some blu-ray movies are recorded at. If you turn on the sample rate display on a movie, you can see it is not consistent at all, and it varies a lot between scenes. And I can see the same judder effects in the same scenes on the same movies on both HDTVs. I have not gamed on it, though, so perhaps there is some problem there, but I use my old Samsung as my gaming display now anyway.

LOL, you won't find any TV with no input lag. Good luck with that. :)

how are the VT60 and ZT60? Are they just as bad?

Bam! http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33199_7-57587317-221/game-mode-on-cnet-tests-tvs-for-input-lag/

But no, they state that the input lag for the higher end models is almost half of the ST60. Note though, those are the lowest lag numbers that they could get done by enabling game mode for example. Really, it seems like the ST60 needs a "game mode" to bypass some of the processing. I recall looking at an article earlier today that showed two Samsung TV's that had about the same lag as the ST60 but game mode cut it almost in half.

EDIT: What is interesting is that the S60 is pretty fast, a lag of 34 ms. I guess the higher end models have a lot of additional processing on the image that helps improve the overall quality. So it it would seem that Panasonic really just needs to get a game mode on the TV or beef up the processors.

The ST60 does have a game mode. It reduces it from the 100-120ms to 60-80ms.

The S60 doesn't have the input lag because its processor is fast enough to handle all processing and not worry about the stupid smart features that weigh down the ST60.

The S60 is a mirror finish display. It wouldn't work in my room.

I've heard the E6500 plasma TVs from Samsung have a semi-hidden PC mode with low input lag. Something about setting the label on the HDMI input to "PC". I've heard that gives 16ms input lag, but I'm not sure if that's accurate or not. I've heard at the least it disables most of the picture settings when you do that, which means it's possible it's disabling post processing and thus giving lower input lag.

The ST50 does not have the input lag issues. I know it is a older model but for gaming use it is better. It is a shame that you do not get the GT60 range as that seems like the sweet spot for features, PQ, price and gaming.

The US is not getting the GT60 model.
