Replace oem mercedes monitor with ipad HELP!

Hi, I'm looking for someone who can help me with my question.

What I want to do:
in my mercedes there is an HSD cable between the main unit and the small monitor in the center console.
I want to remove the small monitor and convert the signal from the HSD cable to HDMI signal.
Then I want to connect HDMI to my ipad and via an app be able to see my OEM monitor screen in my ipad.

its possible to do it the outher way, Ipad > Oem monitor, but havn't seen this project some where else.

Can some one please help me out with this ?

I'm about 99.9% sure that there's no way to video-IN on an iOS device. But I _think_ you can do it on an Android device using MHL (but don't quote me on that).

What's the end goal, why replace the screen with a tablet?
