Replace engine mounts?

I have an '01 Accord V6 that needs new engine mounts (they're cracked and broken). I think this is a simple enough task to do myself. Does anyone have any pointers on replacing engine mounts in general?

I don't know about a Honda Accord, but I've replaced them before without an issue. It also depends on which mount you're looking to replace. For example, the driver's side engine mount on my Talon was easy as pie to replace. The rear engine mount would be a pain in the royal rear to replace. The front one would be a bit easier and the transmission mount wasn't too bad as long as I removed the battery and its holder. Personally, I was lucky and only needed to replace the cracked driver's side mount, but replacing any was easy when the engine was already out anyway.

EDIT: I also replaced the entire mount... I believe you can replace the inserts on most if not all mounts, which might be easier.
 
It depends what type of motor mount it is. If it's in plain view you should be able to do it. But like most cars you will need some support underneath the engine to change them. Putting a piece of wood between a floor jack and a engine support underneath so that then engine is kind of pushed up then removing the mount. If you don't do this when you remove the mount the engine will shift and you won't be able to get the new mount in.

LOL I also have an 01 Accord V6 that had its broken front engine mounts replaced at the dealer the day before yesterday.
 
You can do it if it is easy to get to. You will need a jack with a piece of wood underneath that won't damage anything. (Don't put the jack straight on the oil pan.)
 
I don't know about this particular car, but most motor mounts you can replace easily.

There are some exceptions, though. I'd love to see someone replace some old Taurus 3.8 liter engine mounts in the driveway. 😉
 
So all I really need to do is jack up the engine enough to take the weight off the mounts, remove them (and any connecting wires because I think some of them are computer controlled), and then replace them. Do I need to worry about torquing the bolts back down to a certain specification or will tightening them with the wrench till they're solid be good enough?

Yes, it's a mount. Probably electronic/hydraulic.

It depends on which mount is being replaced. If it is one of the computer controlled ones, they can be $100 or more.
