Hey all
I need a bit of advice as well as IF my plan of action makes a lick of sense.
My ~2yr, 1.5 month old Lenovo w510 laptop 320 GB hard drive died on me earlier this week. The laptop was taken out of standby mode while on battery when it started making odd noises. The noises where not fan related. Shortly there after, I get a bsod. I shutdown the laptop And try to restart it and it gives me the click of death sound and tells me it can't find/read the hdd. Backups are out of date.
Should I try to call lenovo support and get help from them? Or should I install a new drive, perhaps an SSD? And which SSD drive? Anything I can do to try and recover data from the dead drive?
Im thinking of installing an SSD and getting some kind of dock/enclosure for the dead drive to see if I can read anything off it. Does the freezer trick work with laptop hdd?
