I may have to replace that memory that's listed in my 'sig"...if I have to, then what would be a good replacement for that...with the possibility of OC'ing my system very likely....would be same components....that MB/cpu/vid card...

I do have the latest "1237" bios for that Asus p5B-Deluxe/Wi-Fi MB....

I won't be going for anything crazy....mild/moderate I would say. For example, the "OC" I just screwed up was that E8400(3.0ghz) to 3.6ghz.

Problem is I messed up some OC settings in Bios, and I'm afraid I burned out some components....rig is being checked out as we speak...

Price on memory / not an issue...

Why exactly do you think you "burned out" some components? I find it difficult to grasp that a simple 3.6GHz OC on an e8400 would burn up anything.

What are your symptoms?

Yes, that's what I thought too. But I changed other bios settings as well that caused the problems. See another post of mine that shows details:

Based on others' comments so far, sounds like the vid card has been most impacted by my screw-up. I will find out later this morning when I call my friend who has the comp.

I doubt your memory was damaged.

If it was, and 3.6GHz is all you intend to try to hit, DDR2-800 is fine. Anything on sale from a decent manufacturer will do.

Geez...

My MB was fried....tech showed me...( black spots on MB)etc...

SO, w/ components I now have (in my sig), and trying to use the same ones as much as possible, what MB to replace what I had? P5QDeluxe??...most reasonable price, or if I get crazy, the Asus Rampage extreme II?? P5Q deluxe a step up from my P5B deluxe...

The "catch 22" here... tech said "MB no good", so I said how 'bout other components? He said "don't know until we replace MB"... WELL... that means I could get another Asus P5B deluxe-WiFi MB, and then the vid card, or memory, or CPU is no good also? And, if that's the case, then I'll want to upgrade to newer tech....X48, etc...

What to do?

Why buy an X48 motherboard when you're using an Nvidia graphics card? Just go with a solid P45 motherboard.

I'm looking at the Asus P5Q, Max II Formula, and the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P...
