repeaters and halving throughput

I am trying to get a signal from the office in a detached Garage to the Main House. Using just a wireless router and a card (linksys G) I get a 20% signal that is not the best in the world. However, if I go downstairs and to the corner of the house I get about a 70% signal. So I would like to use wireless repeaters to move the signal across the house. I guestimate from the performance that I am getting from Garage to house, I will need three repeaters to get the signal to the far corner bedrooms. However when reading up on the DWL-G800AP I learn that throughput is halved each time it is repeater. What does that mean to performance and web usage?

1. I would not care about What the Signal thingie is indicating.

Measure the Real ?Speed?.

2. You can not daisy Chain Entry Level Repeaters.

ok so checked with network stumbler and new linksys drivers.

I get ~ -70 to -80 dBm.
